Hexa's Olympics Report 3

British Success - it *can* happen!

Parry beat Phelps! PARRY BEAT PHELPS! He's going into one of the best lanes in tonigts 100m Butterfly final. And best part?

HE'S A BRIT! WOOOO! WE DON'T *TOTALLY* SUCK! WOOOO!

That was an amazing race from the British perspective. He smashed the British *and* Commonwealth records to qualify! I think an Australian set the Commonwealth record but I'm not certain.

In all fairness, Phelps *had* just done a grueling 200m against Thorpe and his dream of equaling or surpassing Spitz's record of 7 gold has been utterly dashed. Instead of the 3 golds he was hoping to have by now he has 1 gold and 2 bronze. But he's only 19 and it's his first Olympics and he really did try to do too much too soon. So I don't think he swam his best in the semi but Parry looks like having a good chance at a medal so - fingers crossed all? Give him support, he really deserves it.

Been watching the Eventing again. Britain and now laying in second place behind Germany but not *too* far behind which is great.

I missed the men's Gymnastic's final last night in favour of the men's 3m Springboard final...That was just plain bizzare.

For a start the Judges were awarding great dives highly mediocre marks.

Then a guy in a tutu jumped into the diving pool. So much for the millions spent on security, ne?

Then the Chinese who were in first place and favorites to win messed up royally! Obviously pressured and put off by the freak in the tutu they had a false dive when one of them landed flat on his back on the entry! That had to hurt!

Then the Russian clipped his toes on the board on his dive and messed it up too!

Everyone was so thrown it was just bizzare! And Britain dived *much* better than 5th place!

In the end Greece won which was really great because you could *see* how much it meant to them.

Britain has two swimmers in the 200m Fly Semi-finals tonight so fingers crossed there.

Good luck to Parry, I hope he get's a medal. He's been 4th so many times and that really has to be the worst position to come in!

Korea beat us in the mens' Hockey so fingers crossed against Spain on Thursday.

We're doing very well in sailing. The French had our guy in the Fin Class disqualified from the second race but he powered back from 20th to 1st! With any luck the Brit's appeal will be upheld and he will increase his lead but he's doing *so* well! We also lead two other fields.

But then again, you'd expect us to be good on the water. We're just not so hot *in* it. But we're an island nation, you either learn to sail or you never get anywhere! Although in all fairness we never really learnt until the Viking's and Roman's came and invaded us. We'll steal other nation's skills, we ain't proud!

But we have a long history with things like sailing and horse riding so you'd expect us to be strong. But that also puts a lot of pressure on the teams and that can be fatal in a competition.

Well, fingers crossed for tonight and tomorrow. Let's hope our swimmers can break their 7 year losing streak, ne? 7 years with no medals has to suck so give them their dues for trying at least.

Je Ne all!
