Dream with me

Harry Potter movie and Fog

11:24 AM - November 22, 2005

I had a very good day yesterday. Instead of taking the morning off like I usually do on a Monday I went straight into Uni. I got my Specialist work all finished and printed and handed it in after the lecture.

I decided then that I had three options;

1) Sit and watch everyone else stress over todays deadline.

2)Go home and play computer games

3)Do something fun

I chose to do something fun so I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

WARNING: SPOILERS

I thought it was a fantastic film. I was so pleased that they didn't pull their punches, for the most part. I thought the special effects were fantastic. After the dismal effects of the first film, I always go into these movies a bit wary. But I was impressed, by the dragon especially. I thought it's movement was excellent and when it was climbing across the roof, it's environment interaction was spot on, you could almost believe it was real!

I was a little disappointed that they cut Bill and Charlie Weasley and there was no Mrs Weasley either. And no exploding fireplaces.

Still, the Deatheater attack was sutibly dramatic.

Of course, when Barty Crouch Jr appeared I couldn't help it. I had to say "It's Dr Who! Any minute now he's going to ask Harry into the TARDIS!"

(David Tennent is the new Dr Who, just so you know)

I thought Moody was great, and I was bouncing in my seat with joy when I saw Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing Ferret!

(I also want to find the cat who played Mrs Norris and steal her, she's so *cute*!)

The ending was, of course, fantastic! Voldemorts ressurection was horrific and spectacular all at once.

That is where they didn't pull their punches, I thought. They let Voldie be a cruel, as heartless and as vile as he needed to be.

I almost cried when Cedric died, though. I really didn't want him to go with Harry. (I am aware that I'm 21, btw, but it was a good film)

The only critisism I have is the same one I've had for all the other films. I don't think Radcliff is any good as Harry. He's too wooden and unemotional and when he was crying over Cedric it just felt hammed up, you know?

The other actors have gotten really good. I especially loved the twins in this film. But Harry always lets it down a bit, for me.

Oh and also, what the hell was the Psychotic Dumbledore all about?

(Still, gotta love the little story about setting the bed curtains on fire in his forth year. By accident, of course.)

And Lily and James. **Sigh** I do think the casting director had a real 'swing and a miss' to coin the Americanism with them. They never appear anything like I and everyone else imagines them.

I hope they do a better job with them in the next movie, with Snapes Worst Memory.

It's making me look forward to next year. Or at least I was, until I realised that by the time the new movie comes out I will have graduated University and will (with any luck) be fully employed.

Meep...

Anyway, the film aside it was a wierd day yesterda. Very very foggy. I mean it, I was waiting for the bus home and you literally couldn't tell if it was a bus or not until it was virtually on top of you. I've not seen it that foggy since I was a little kid.

It was kinda fun, though.

Yes, I am amused and impressed by odd things.

Tomorrow I am supposed to be meeting the parents in Birmingham, weather permitting. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm just checking the ticket price then I'd best be off to my seminar.

Wow, pretty cheep.

Anyway, I really have to go now.
